Kimono Rental

Compass Corp., a Tokyo-based company specializing in services for foreign visitors to Japan, plans to expand its kimono rental stores by the end of 2024 by opening two new stores.

It can be rented out for 3,000 to 10,000 yen per day. Additionally, dressing and hairdressing services are available for an extra fee. The reservation site can be accessed in 11 languages, including English and Chinese. Moreover, the store has English-speaking employees. Fumito Sasaki, the establishment's representative, expressed his surprise at the surge in bookings and the exceptional growth in demand, stating that it exceeded their expectations.

Compass Corp. demonstrated its adaptability in February by starting an electrically powered bicycle rental business in Tsukiji, Tokyo. "We will develop new business as needs change" (representative) in the future.

The tourism and lodging industries are experiencing a rise in demand. However, there is a significant shortage of employees and labor, making it difficult to respond to the situation. In this scenario, innovative technologies and services enhancing on-site productivity are crucial for any tourism-oriented country. With their agility and fresh ideas, we believe that start-ups are well-positioned to play a vital role in addressing these challenges and shaping the future of our industries.
